Meet Rakzan, affectionately known as Roxy, whose roots are deeply embedded in the rich soils of Mosul, Iraq. Her earliest memories are filled with moments spent in the kitchen alongside her mother. There, amidst the clatter of pots and pans, her passion for cooking was kindled. Her mother, a phenomenal cook, was her first mentor, imparting the secrets of traditional Iraqi cuisine that had been passed down through generations. Roxy learned not only the techniques but also the stories and love embedded in each recipe.
The authentic flavors of her homeland are scarcely represented, even in Iraqi restaurants. This realization ignited a desire in her to share the richness of her culture's cuisine with a wider audience. She saw it as an opportunity to tell her story, and the story of Iraq, through its food.
